Complex care Complex care

People with an intellectual disability have an increased risk of complex care needs. For example, because they more often show difficult to understand behavior than people without an intellectual disability. Our research within this theme contributes to more knowledge about the care of people with a severe intellectual disability and difficult to understand behavior (EVB+) and to people with a mild intellectual disability and difficult to understand behavior (LVB+). The studies focus, for example, on how healthcare professionals can deal with complex behavior, which also takes into account the perspective of people with intellectual disabilities themselves and their loved ones.
